Maintaining supply for legacy parts without extended lead times
Many maritime and energy OEMs carry legacy spare parts portfolios that represent genuine aftermarket value. End users rely on genuine parts to maintain operational continuity, meet certification or regulatory requirements, and preserve the integrity of installed equipment.
Delivering those parts within acceptable timeframes has become more difficult. Production tooling is retired, supplier relationships have lapsed, and minimum order quantities make low-volume legacy production hard to justify through conventional routes. Lead times lengthen, and sustaining the genuine aftermarket offering becomes a strategic question.
In 2026 our team spoke with more than 200 maritime and energy OEMs about this challenge. In this 45-minute session, we bring together the common themes from those discussions:
- Where legacy supply is under most pressure, and why
- What it costs in revenue, stock and customer relationships
- The routes OEMs are using to respond, and the trade-offs of each
- A simple way to assess exposure across your own portfolio
